ABOUT ME
My background in education
Before going freelance in 2017, I worked for a leading awarding organisation, where I gained extensive experience in preparing content for learners, tutors and assessors that complied with Ofqual’s General Conditions of Recognition and other regulatory and guidance documents such as the Department for Education’s 'Technical and applied qualifications for 14 to 19 year olds: technical guidance for awarding organisations'.
As a Qualifications Development Manager, I supervised the development of regulated vocational qualifications, including several market-leading Early Years Educator qualifications.
I contributed my technical writing skills to specific unit content for numerous qualifications, working alongside subject experts to ensure that the final products were fit for purpose and complied with regulations.
PROOFREADING
I wrote, edited and proofread hundreds of qualification specifications and related support materials. I also proofread a wide range of marketing and promotional materials, newsletters, customer communications, policies and procedures, and website content.
As Qualifications Maintenance Manager, I was responsible for the maintenance of all print and online support materials.
SECTOR EXPERTISE
I collaborated on a range of projects with in-house and external subject experts, education and training providers, Local Authorities, Sector Skills Councils, employers and professional membership organisations such as PACEY (Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years).
I also worked closely with key sector organisations, including Ofqual, UCAS and the Department for Education (DfE), and became an expert on the DfE's requirements for vocational qualifications on the Performance Tables.
What else?
My passions in life are theatre and music. I have over 25 years' experience as an actor, director and playwright. As an actor, I originated the role of the Time Traveller in Dyad Productions’ The Time Machine (Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2017 and UK/international tour 2018–19). I compose music as Nearly a Chaos, and have contributed original music and sound design to a number of stage productions.
I am based in St Albans, where I live with my eight-year-old daughter.
