Privacy Policy

I, Stephen Cunningham, am a registered sole trader operating as Zeropoint Editorial. I offer freelance proofreading and editorial services to a variety of clients in the UK.

This privacy policy describes what personal data I gather, how I use it and how I protect it.

This privacy policy was last updated on 22 May 2018.

What data do I collect from you?

When you first contact me about a proofreading project, I collect the following information:

  • your name

  • your email address

  • details of your proofreading project.

If we agree to work together, I collect the following additional information:

  • file(s) relating to your proofreading project

  • your telephone number

  • your postal address to be used on invoices.

What do I use your data for?

I use your personal information only in the following ways:

  • to respond to your requests for information (e.g. my availability to undertake a project)

  • to record our mutual agreement to my/your terms and conditions

  • to keep in touch with you while a project is ongoing

  • for my internal accounting purposes (e.g. your name and address on invoices) in order to fulfil my obligations to HMRC, the UK tax authority, should it request an audit.

Where do I store your data and how do I protect it?

Emails and telephone numbers are stored on my password-protected, SSL-certified (https) email account, hosted by Google.

Project files are stored on the hard drive of my password-protected laptop. My laptop is protected by an enhanced firewall and ransomeware-protection software.

My website is hosted on the Wix.com platform. It is password-protected and has SSL-certification to provide an additional layer of security. Wix.com provides me with the online platform that allows me to advertise my services to you. Your data may be stored through Wix.com’s data storage, databases and the general Wix.com applications. They store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.

How long do I keep the data for?

I am required to keep the name and address used for invoicing purposes for a minimum of seven years to comply with my obligations to HMRC. However, many of my clients work with me on an ongoing basis, so I do not delete data unless requested to do so.

Do I share your data?

I do not share your data with anyone, unless I am required to do so by law (for example, if I am audited by HMRC).

I do not subcontract work, nor do I discuss your project with third parties or on the internet/social media.

If you agree to provide a testimonial for my website, I will include the name and details you provide.
